SALGA to find middle ground between municipalities and institutions of traditional leaders

In its effort to foster strategic transformation leadership with the institution of Traditional Leadership within the local government sector, South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is to host a provincial workshop on support between municipal councils and North West House of Traditional Leaders.

The workshop is geared towards debating substantively the strategic role expected of all traditional leaders within the broader development role of municipalities in terms of planning, socio–economic urban and rural development and general government governance. The gathering is also aimed at ensuring that institutions of traditional leadership are compatible with democratic governance to ensure co-existence with local municipalities and to reduce conflicts that usual arise between local municipal councils and dikgosi.
