SA Air Force confers newly qualified pilots and flight engineers, 06 Dec

Lieutenant General Zimpande Msimang confers newly qualified pilots and flight engineers

In their quest of realizing their cherished dream of flying the SA Air Force (SAAF) air assets and rendering engineering services to the SAAF, Candidate Officers (COs) will usher in the year 2019 by proudly swelling their wings and ranks after they have successfully completed the Pupil Pilot Course.  Lieutenant General Zimpande Msimang will confer wings and ranks to COs on the occasion of a Wings Parade, at Air Force Base Langebaanweg on 06 December 2018 at 11h00.

Instructors who trained these Candidate Officers will proudly witness as their trainees receive wings and ranks on the parade. Subsequent to the parade (Wings), these members will be utilized in various squadrons, such as that of a helicopter (Oryx and BK 117), transport (C130BZ and Dakota) and combat (Hawks and Gripen); in accordance with the SAAF requirements.

Before any member could enrol for Pupil Pilot Course, envisaged candidates must first complete Officer-Forming Course; then they (candidates) are awarded wings and ranks during the Wings Parade. This only applies to the Wings Parade.

These qualified members will be deployed, amongst others, to fight against cross-border criminality such as hijacking of vessels and counterfeit goods, rhino-poaching.

Assigned journalists are invited to cover the event. Confirmation of attendance should be directed to Lieutenant Kedibone Moagi on or before 04 December 2018 at 12h00.
