Rural Development and Land Reform hosts media walk-about of 20 Years of Freedom exhibition, 31 Jan

Take a walk through the history of South Africa

The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform will be hosting a media walk-about of the Building the Legacy: 20 Years of Freedom Interactive exhibition at the Tshwane Events Centre in Pretoria.

Media will be given a chance to view the historic exhibition, one of the largest in South Africa. The exhibition takes visitors through the colonial era, land dispossession, repression and democracy and land reform featuring live performances by actors.

It also features as a collection of apartheid-era legislation, the re-enactment of the Rivonia Trial, District six & a 1950’s Sophiatown party as well as something not seen in the new South Africa, an old yellow police Casspir.

The exhibition provides insight into our country’s history and a glimpse of the road travelled toward freedom and democracy. Professional curators were involved in putting together this exhibition.

The walk-about will be followed by cocktails in the director’s chambers hosted by the Chief Land Claims Commissioner.

Media are invited as follows:
Date: 31 January 2014
Time: 13h00
Venue: Tshwane Events Centre, Hall J (Soutter Street, gate G2)

The photo-op will be followed by cocktails in the Directors Chambers.
