The South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Primedia Group entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2007 through which Crime Line, the anonymous tip-off line, was formed. Crime Line receives tip-offs on crime and criminal activities from members of the public which are then sent through to the SAPS’s Crime Stop and further action is taken by the SAPS. The MOU has become outdated and will now be renewed.
The National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Riah Phiyega, and the CEO of Primedia, Mr Roger Jardine, will represent the two organisations at the signing of the MOU renewal.
The signing of the MOU will coincide with the formal launch the 35th Crime Stoppers International conference, which will be jointly hosted by the SAPS and Crime Line in October 2014 in Cape Town. This will be the first time that the conference is hosted on the African Continent and will prove to be a vital training and networking event for all law enforcement officers.
Members of the media are invited to attend.
The event will unfold as follows:
Date: 15 September 2014
Time: 15h00 for 15h30
