Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi visits Public Works projects in the Eastern Cape

The Minister of Public Works Thulas Nxesi will visit the province of the Eastern Cape as part of the two day meeting of the Minister with the nine Public Works MECs (MinMEC) hosted by the Department of Roads and Public Works in East London.

MinMEC is the regular forum of the Minister and the provincial MECs that takes stock of service delivery implementation.

Members of the media are hereby cordially invited to join the Ministerial delegation as they visit some of the projects undertaken by the Department of Roads and Public Works in Bhisho and Keiskammahoek on Thursday, 7 March 2013.

Minister Nxesi will be accompanied by Eastern Cape Roads & Public Works MEC Thandiswa Marawu and Head of Department Bongani Gxilishe. 

The visit will be an occasion for the Provincial and National Departments of Public Works to showcase some of their current capital works, property development and job creation projects.

Some of the projects to be visited include the following:

  • Dukumbana Building in Bhisho
  • The Bhisho Extreme Park
  • The Bhisho Memorial Site
  • The Keiskammahoek Community Work Programme Site

Transport has been made available for members of the media wishing to be part of the Ministerial entourage that will be visiting the fore mentioned projects. A minibus will be parked outside Qhasana Building (DRPW Head Office) from 9h00 on Thursday.

A detailed programme of the project visits will be forwarded to the media in due course.
