Department of Public Works to host the 6th EPWP Summit on 13 to 14 November 2018 in Pretoria
As the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) phase 3 implementation is due to end in March 2019 and ushering in the phase 4 of the Programme, the EPWP implementers from all spheres of government and EPWP participants will be hosted by the National Department of Public Works at the 6th EPWP Summit to be held from 13_14 November 2018 in Pretoria.
The objectives of the EPWP summit are among others:
- To provide feedback on the consultations, planning and progress on the finalisation of the EPWP Phase 4 proposal
- To report progress on the implementation of the 2016 Summit resolutions
- To further educate Public bodies about EPWP recruitment guidelines
The EPWP delegates will share their experiences, ideas, challenges and successes in the implementation of the Programme. The EPWP participants will be given the opportunity to give testimonies about the impact of the EPWP in their lives.
The EPWP summit is hosted bi-annually and its main focus is to reflect on how best to implement the EPWP which has since its launch in 2004 provided millions of poor, unemployed and unskilled South Africans with training and work opportunities. As a poverty alleviation Programme, the Programme has also made a significant impact in South Africans communities through the assets created and services rendered.
