Public Service Month celebrations

This year’s Public Service Month hosted under the theme: ‘Reinventing the way Public Servants Work: Batho Pele, Putting People First”, will take place in the Free State on 4  to  5 September 2014. The specific focus will be on the promotion of the Service Charter as adopted in 2013. The Charter calls for public servants to embark on a critical task of reinventing how they deliver services to citizens.

Public Service Month is an integral part of the Batho Pele Revitalisation strategy which seeks to instil and rebuild good ethics, morale and pride in public servants. It also seeks to create a platform for the Minister for Public Service and Administration to meet and interact with the frontline public servants.

As part of Public Service Month activities, Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Collins Chabane, Free State Premier, Sekgobelo Magashule and selected MEC’s will on 4 September, conduct unannounced visits to identified frontline service delivery mostly within Health, Human Settlements, Police Service and Education sectors, including Thusong Service Centres.

On 5 September, service delivery exhibitions will be staged to showcase the actual delivery of services. Government departments will participate and showcase their products and services, whilst sharing best practices. Services that will be available will be offered via mobile clinics, Home Affairs, South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and related services.
