Public Service Commission launches Constitutional Values and Principles, 20 Sept

The National Office of the Public Service Commission will launch the Constitutional Values and Principles (CVPs) under the theme: Building a Value-driven Public Service through Ethical Leadership for Service Delivery, on Thursday 20 September at UNISA.

The PSC is mandated by the Constitution to amongst others, promote the Constitutional Values and Principles governing public administration as set out in Section 195 of the Constitution, throughout the Public Service.  In its preamble, the Constitution outlines the fundamental values on which nation building and social cohesion should firmly rest, including redressing imbalances of the past. These values include human dignity, the achievement of equality, the advancement of human rights and freedoms, non-racialism and non-sexism, supremacy of the Constitution, the rule of law, democracy, social justice, equity and respect.

The Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo will deliver a keynote address under the topic: Inculcating the Constitutional Values and Principles including the Batho Pele Principles to build a values-driven Public Service. The launch will also be attended by Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Service Administration Planning Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Joseph Maswanganyi, Gauteng Premier, Mr David Makhura, Chairperson of the Moral Regeneration Movement, Father Smangaliso Mkhatshwa and other esteemed guests.
