Media invitation to the Presidential Golf Challenge 2020
Members of the media are invited to the Presidential Golf Challenge (PGC) which is hosted as part of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) activities. The event will be held on Friday, 14, February 2020, a day after the 2nd SONA of the 6th Administration.
The purpose of this initiative is to raise funds for charities designated by the sitting President while simultaneously facilitating an opportunity for networking, immediately after the SONA, among decision-makers within the private sector and entities from the three spheres of government.
The initiative, coordinated by the Public Service and Administration Department, is a joint effort with the private sector to partake in developmental initiatives to empower society, with this year’s contributions to be made to the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation.
This year, President Ramaphosa will Tee- Off with Simthandile “SimTiger” Tshabalala, a Seven year- old astute young Golfer, who has represented the country in various international tournaments including the most recent- the Canadian Invitational Golf tournament, in September 2019.
SimTiger, who started playing Golf at the tender age of 4, only started competing 8 months ago and has thus far won more than 20 trophies.
Attending the golf day will be Cabinet Ministers; Directors-General; Heads of State Owned Enterprises and Executives from the private sector.
