Short supply of anaesthetic machines, suction machines, patient monitors, diathermy machines, autoclaving machines and tourniquets at Tshilidzini Hospital in Thohoyandou are some of the complaints Public Protector Adv. Thuli Madonsela will bring to the attention of the Limpopo Provincial legislature on Wednesday morning.
The complaints were raised with the Public Protector during her national stakeholder dialogue visit to the province late last month. The aim of the dialogue is to strengthen government’s ability to deliver on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) with specific focus on improving health and reducing hunger and poverty.
During her two-day stay in the province last month, the Public Protector was met with complaints ranging from problems with mobile clinic services for far-flung areas, land claim issues, RDP housing to “red tape” at hospitals which medical officials at Tshilidzini blamed for acute shortage of life-saving equipment. She also received complaints about general service delivery issues.
The meeting with the Legislature will take place as follows:
Date: Wednesday, 18 September 2013
Venue: Parliamentary Village, Polokwane
Time: 9h00
