Public Protector to present at APRM colloquium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The Public Protector, Adv Thuli Madonsela will on Tuesday, 21 May 2013, present during a High Level panel discussion at the 10th African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) anniversary colloquium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This will be done during a panel which will focus on “Ten years of implementing APRM: achievements, challenges, lessons learnt and the way forward.” Other panellists will include among others, Ms Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, Director of Democratic Governance Group of the United Nations Development Programme, Hon Abdoul Coulibaliy, Minister of Good Governance in Senegal and Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Lweala, Minister of Finance in Nigeria.

Former President of Mozambique His Excellency, Pres Joacquim Chissano will deliver a keynote address at a two day conference which will be attended by Head of States, senior government officials, academics, members of civil organisations and development partners.

The colloquium will serve as a platform for high-level discussions on Governance-related issues among prominent African scholars, thought leaders, government officials, governance academics and practitioners. The discussions are expected to highlight the importance of good governance in the social, political and economic transformation processes to the promotion of sustainable growth and development in Africa.

The theme for this year’s event is “Better governance for sustainable growth and development in Africa.”
