Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela to launch African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) history book

Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela will tonight address the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) History Book launch in Durban.

Her address will focus on the “Importance of AOMA History Book” to the organisation and the continent at large. The launch will also be attended by President of AOMA and Ombudsman of Angola, Dr Paulo Tjipilica and Vice-Chancellor of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Professor Malegapuru Makgoba.

The book is titled an african journey towards good governance: the history of the african ombudsman and mediators association and is co-authored by Prof Managay Reddi and David Barraclough. It traverses the history of AOMA and the African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC) and their valuable contribution to understanding the evolution and implementation of Good Governance initiatives in Africa. The book also looks back at the history of the 36-member state continental body and its predecessor the African Omudsman Association (AOA).

The launch is a partnership between the UKZN School of Law at the University and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
