Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela to kick-start stakeholder dialogue programme

Public Protector Adv. Thuli Madonsela will kick-start her office’s annual stakeholder consultative dialogue in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

She will have a meeting with Gauteng Premier Hon. David Makhura, Speaker of the Provincial Legislature, Members of Provincial Legislatures, Provincial Accounting Officers, Legal Advisors, City of Johannesburg entities and others.

The Public Protector will later in the day hold an outreach event with community of Soweto in Orlando. The aim of this year’s dialogue is for the Public Protector to dialogue with government, state entities and general public on how maladministration and corruption could be eliminated and service delivery accelerated.

The programme will among others see the Public Protector hold a series of meetings with Parliament through Portfolio Committees; Ministers, Provincial Executive Councils and Legislatures; Accounting Officers; Legal Advisors; Mayors; Municipal Managers; Public Servants and the media.

The dialogue is held under the theme “Joining Hands in a partnership against maladministration and corruption.”

The intended outcome of the dialogue is to foster a common understanding of the Public Protector’s role in the state and improved cooperation and working relations between the office and state actors.

The Braamfontein meeting will take place as follows:

The outreach event will take place as follows:
Date: Thursday, 14 August 2014
Time: 14h30 – 16h30
Venue: Orlando Community Hall, Orlando, Soweto
