The Department of Water Affairs has commissioned a process to determine resource quality objectives (RQOs) for all of the water resources (rivers, wetlands , groundwater and dams) of the Olifants , Upper and Lower Vaal water management areas. The purpose of RQOs is to establish clear goals relating to the quality of the water resources. In determining RQOs a balance is sought between the need to protect and sustain water resources and the need to use them.
Public meetings will be held to discuss the proposed RQOs for the Olifants, Lower and Upper Vaal Water Management Areas. Stakeholders and interested parties that can contribute to this process are welcome to attend the meetings .
