Public Enterprises to reach out to three provinces on Mandela Day

The Public Enterprises  Minister, Malusi Gigaba, and Deputy Minister,  Bulelani Magwanishe, will participate in several Mandela Day community outreach  activities in Witbank (Mpumalanga) and De Aar (Northern Cape) respectively. There will be another event outside Pretoria in Saulsville where the Director-General, Tshediso Matona, will lead other officials to make a difference at a children’s safety home.

The Department is heeding the call to celebrate former President Nelson Mandela’s birthday by dedicating  67 minutes to community work, thereby making a difference to the less fortune. Minister Gigaba will kickstart his 67 minutes with a visit to Witbank Hospital, then change into his overalls and paint classrooms at Mmagobana Primary School in Thushanang township. There will also an official hand-over of a newly built house to a destitute family.

Minister Gigaba and his delegates will end his visit at eMalahleni with a visit to Sizuzile Primary school, where he, amongst other activities,  will get their hands dirty by fixing run-down classrooms.

Deputy Minister Magwanishe will be in De Aar, where Transnet and community volunteers will be on hand to rehabilitate a derelict old building. Deputy Minister will paint, plaster and put new ceiling to ensure that the building is suitable for human habitation. The building will then be handed over to the community of De Aar, where destitute and homeless children can claim their home of safety.

In a effort to ensure that all Department of Public Enterprises officials also pay homage, Director General Tshediso Matona will spend their 67 minutes by providing support to the Leamogetswe Safety Home in Saulsville near Attridgeville. Matona and his officials will donate food, clothes and study material to the home.
