President Zuma to launch Automotive Rail Wagons in Uitenhage

President Jacob Zuma will tomorrow, 5 November 2013, officially launch a new generation car wagon intended as a transport solution for the auto industry in Uitenhage, in the Eastern Cape as part of government efforts to boost South Africa's manufacturing sector.

The wagons were designed, engineered and built at Transnet Engineering's manufacturing facility in Uitenhage outside Port Elizabeth. The launch signals a major milestone in Government's drive to move rail-friendly cargo off South Africa's roads. This innovation demonstrates the state-owned entity's manufacturing and engineering capabilities as well as its commitment to regional economic development and job creation.
