President Jacob Zuma to undertake a monitoring visit to Limpopo

President Jacob Zuma will, on Tuesday 25 June 2013, visit Muyexe village in Giyani in Limpopo, to assess progress made since the village was declared a pilot project under the Comprehensive Rural Development Programme in 2009.

The visit will be undertaken under the auspices of the Presidential Siyahlola Monitoring Programme, as part of the Presidency’s performance monitoring and evaluation programme.

The village was identified as a pilot project where government would apportion resources to improve the lives of the community and address underdevelopment under the CRDP programme. The President first declared his intention to improve the living conditions in the area in his 2009 State of the Nation Address (Sona). During his address he expressed concern over the lack of development in the area; in particular that it had no basic services like water, electricity, roads and housing.

The President will conduct site visits to Muyexe Thusong Service Centre, Muyexe Early Childhood Development Centre, Macena Gardens and to the Muyexe Water Purification Plant and Reservoir.

The President will engage with the community.

The programme of the visit is as follows:

Part One (Projects): 10h00

  • Visit to Muyexe Thusong Service Centre
  • Muyexe Early Childhood Development Centre
  • Visit to Muyexe Macena Gardens
  • Visit to Muyexe Water Purification Plant and Reservoir
