President Jacob Zuma convenes meeting of Executive and Judiciary

President Jacob Zuma will today chair the meeting of the Executive and the Judiciary to discuss working relations between the two arms of the state, at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

The meeting is at the request of the Chief Justice of the Republic, Honourable Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng. The President will chair the meeting in his capacity as Head of State and the delegation of the National Executive will be the following:

  • Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa;
  • Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Michael Masutha;
  • Minister of Science and Technology Naledi Pandor;
  • Minister of Human Settlement Lindiwe Sisulu;
  • Minister of Environmental Affairs Edna Molewa;
  • Deputy Minister of Justice John Jeffery;
  • Deputy Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Carl Nel.

The Judiciary delegation will be led by The Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng and will comprise of the following:

  • Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke;
  • President Lex Mpati;
  • Justice Mohamed Solomon Navsa;
  • Judge President John Hlophe;
  • Judge President Diale Kgomo;
  • Judge President Monica Leeuw;
  • Judge President Dunstan Mlambo

The meeting is expected to enhance cooperation between the two arms of the state, deepen democracy and underscore the rule of law as a fundamental tenet of the country’s constitutional order.
