President Jacob Zuma will on Thursday, 30 April 2015 host a handover and farewell meeting with members of the outgoing National Planning Commission at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
In 2009, President Zuma introduced the functions of planning, monitoring and evaluation in government, and in particular established the National Planning Commission, (NPC).
The NPC is chaired by the Minister for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Jeff Radebe. Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa was the Deputy Chairperson of the NPC before his election and appointment as the Deputy President of the Republic.
The term of office of the current NPC will come to the end in May this year. Minister Radebe has called for nominations for the new NPC, whose members are appointed by the President.
