President Zuma to attend South African National Defence Force Day 2014
President Jacob Zuma will on Friday, 21 February 2014, attend the South African National Defence (SANDF) Day 2014 celebrations, or Armed Forces Day, in Bloemfontein, in the Free State province, to be held under the theme "Celebrating 20 Years of Defence in a Democracy”.
President Zuma as a Commander-in-Chief of the SANDF will also preside over the proceedings of the day which will include a medal parade to honour the members of the SANDF who were involved in what became known as the Battle of Bangui, in the Central African Republic in March 2013.
The Armed Forces Day is held annually in honour of men and women in uniform who have taken it upon themselves to serve and defend the interests of the country. This year's event will also mark 20 years of the SANDF since its establishment in 1994.
