President Cyril Ramaphosa participates in Global Health Summit, 21 May 

President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow, 21 May 2021, participate in the Global Health Summit to share lessons learned from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and discuss ways to improve global health security through enhanced cooperation, coordination, joint action and solidarity.
 
The virtual Summit will be co-hosted by the President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Italy, His Excellency, Mr Mario Draghi, and the President of the European Commission, Her Excellency, Ms Ursula von der Leyen. 
 
The Summit will focus on matters related to
 
(1) Better monitoring, anticipation, characterization and sharing of information threats.
 
2) Policies and actions to enhance pandemic preparedness
 
(3) Mutually agreed control measures to contain threats in a coordinated manner
 
(4) Promoting the rapid development, production, distribution and global access to medical countermeasures, and
 
(5) Ensuring sustainable and agile financing support for collaborative action, and the endorsement of the Summit outcome, - the “Rome Declaration” of Principles.
 
G20 and invited Global Leaders, international and regional organization heads, and representatives of global health bodies will attend the Summit.
