Webinar on the National Policy Development Framework launch and anniversary of the Public Policy Development and Research Network
The Acting Director-General and Secretary of the Cabinet (The Presidency), Ms Lusanda Mxenge will host a Webinar introducing the Cabinet approved National Policy Development Framework (NPDF). This session seeks to enhance the understanding, raise awareness and secure buy-in from policy decision makers, practitioners and key role players in the South African policy development cycle. In addition, the session will enhance the understanding and raise awareness to the appointed members of Public Sector Policy Development and Research Network.
In South Africa, effective policy is premised to be at the centre of addressing the triple challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality. This requires capable policy practitioners who are able to collate, synthesize evidence, conduct forecasting, weigh trade-offs, interpret early warning systems and proactively advice political principals on policy paths to be undertaken. The NPDF serves as a guide towards achieving this policy endeavour in a collaborative manner.
The Launch will provide updates on the Public Policy Development and Research Network (PPDRN) which was launched last year. As well as to provide a dedicated platform to link policy development and research practitioners to take concrete action oriented activities while sharing insights on sound public policymaking practices. The session is intended for government officials engaged in formulating, implementing and reviewing public policies. As part of the collaborative policy making agenda participants from academia, research based organizations, and non-governmental stakeholders including the media involved in this area are invited to attend this session.
