Premier Supra Mahumapelo addresses Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa conference, 1 Oct

Premier SOR Mahumapelo will tonight, 01 October 2015, address members of the Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa (AEASA) who are attending the association’s 53rd annual conference which started on 30 September 2015 and is ending tomorrow, 02 October 2015.The conference that is being held for the first time in the North West Province, is held at Khaya Ibhubesi outside Potchefstroom, near Parys.  

The Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa (AEASA) is a professional organisation of Agricultural Economists in South Africa.  It was established in 1961 and has more than 500 members who are from various institutions such as Universities, National Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Provincial Departments of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Council and the private sector.

Central to the objectives of this association is to promote the application of agricultural economic principles to solve challenges associated with agriculture, rural development, agro-processing and related subjects.

“We view the hosting of this conference in our Province as a special occasion for the agricultural sector in Bokone Bophirima, this at the backdrop of Agriculture being placed at the apex of our economic development strategy. We are confident that meaningful contributions on how to realise our economic growth through agriculture will emerge from this conference”, said Premier who is scheduled to deliver his address at a gala dinner starting at 19h00 tonight.

Premier Mahumapelo will be accompanied by the MEC for Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development, Manketsi Tlhape.
