Premier Stanley Mathabatha launches phase four of Provincial Expanded Public Works Programme, 6 Sept

Premier of Limpopo, Mr Chupu Stanley Mathabatha will launch phase four of the Provincial Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). This programme is one of government’s key initiatives aimed at providing income relief through temporary work for the unemployed.

EPWP is a nationwide programme, covering all spheres of government and State-Owned Entities (SOEs) by increasing labour intensity of government funded projects. The programme is co-ordinated by the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure in the province.

The EPWP commenced with phase one in 2004 until 2009 and achieved the national target of one million work opportunities a year ahead of the schedule. Therefore, Limpopo Province Phase 4 has set targets over the five year period (2019/2024) to provide work opportunities in all four sectors of EPWP.

The launching will take place as follows:

Date:  6 September 2019
Venue: Makhado Show Grounds, Makhado Local Municipality Vhembe District
