North West Premier Thandi Modise is scheduled to address the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) 37th Assembly Synod at the St Joseph Pastoral Centre in Lomanyaneng Village outside Mahikeng as from 11:00 this morning.
Premier Thandi Modise will use the opportunity afforded her by the church to address the synod convened under the theme: “Christ is calling us: Participating in suffering and struggle” to reflect on the critical role played by the church in the struggle for liberation and amplify the need to strengthen the partnership between government and the church.
“The church has been the sleeping giant that needs to impact on every aspect of society. We are excited that the synod has placed issues that affect the daily lives of its congregants and society in general high up on its programme,” Premier Modise ahead of her address.
The programme for the seven day synod that is Pan African and international in nature includes workshops on societal issues such as poverty eradication, land distribution, HIV and Aids, women abuse and heritage.
Members of the media are invited to cover Premier Modise’s address to the synod.
