Premier Job Mokgoro visits Lichtenburg following violent community protests,  22 Apr 

North West Premier Prof Tebogo Job Mokgoro, will tomorrow, Wednesday 22 April, visit Blydeville and Boikhutso townships near Lichtenburg in the Ditsobotla Local Municipality, this following the violent community protests that ensued today, leading to the torching of two police vehicles and an ambulance.

It is alleged that two children lost their lives after they were hit by a private vehicle and a police vehicle, in two separate incidents; which are believed to have sparked the violent vandalism by community members.

The Premier will first receive a briefing as follows:

Venue: Lichtenburg Police Station 
Time: 10h00

Following the briefing, Premier Mokgoro will visit the families of the deceased children to convey condolences on behalf of the people and the North West Provincial Government.

Premier Mokgoro who will be accompanied by members of the Provincial Command Council, will also witness first hand, the damage caused by the violent protest.

Premier Mokgoro was initially scheduled to visit Vryburg but due to developments in Ditsobotla, the visit to Vryburg has been rescheduled to a date that will be announced in the due course.
