Premier Job Mokgoro releases Commission Reports into Traditional Affairs, 26 Aug

Office of the Premier to release Commission Reports into Traditional Affairs in the North West

North West Premier, Prof Tebogo Job Mokgoro, today received the Commission Report into the Traditional Affairs of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela but would like to apologise for the delay in the release of the report as it was never the Premier’s intention to undermine the High Court order into the release of the report.

The Premier has said that there were challenges with regard to other traditional communities whose reports are also outstanding before the report could eventually reach the Premier; however, those challenges have since been resolved.

It is therefore the intention of the Premier to go through the report so as to have an appreciation of the basis upon which the Commission’s report were made in line with the Terms of Reference as were gazetted.

Therefore, after having satisfied himself with the contents of the report and its recommendations, Premier Mokgoro will announce and avail the Commission Report pertaining to the Traditional Affairs of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela on Monday, 26 August 2019 in Moruleng in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality.

The exact time and venue will be communicated in due course.

In addition, the Premier will announce the release of the Commission Report relating to the Batlhako Ba Leema Traditional Community on or before 04 September 2019; at a time and venue still to be determined.

Furthermore, the Premier will announce the release of the Commission Report relating to the Batlhako Ba Mmakau Traditional Community on or before 13 September 2019; at a time and venue still to be determined.

The Premier is also expected to release the Commission Report in relation the chieftaincy in Ga-Khunwana on or before 20 September 2019; at a date and venue still to be determined.

In relation to the Commission Report on Bapo Ba Mogale I and Bapo Ba Mogale II, the matter is still before court as a result of the legal position to interdict its release by Mr Julius Mogale; and therefore, the report cannot be made available.
