Khayelitsha: Premier Helen Zille to participate in Commission of Inquiry debate
Tomorrow, 20 August 2015, Premier Helen Zille will participate in the debate on the anniversary of the Khayelitsha Commission of Inquiry in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.
The Commission – established by Premier Zille in 2012 – was mandated to investigate a breakdown in relations between the Khayelitsha community and members of the SAPS. The Commission completed its work and handed over its final report and recommendations to the Premier on 25 August 2014.
The debate was called by the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Community Safety, Mireille Wenger.
Ministers Dan Plato and Albert Fritz will also take part in the debate.
The Premier and Ministers will outline the crucial steps that have been taken by the Western Cape Government to implement the recommendations to improve policing the community of Khayelitsha.
