Premier Helen Zille meets Wellington Farming community on Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, 12 May

On Tuesday 12 May 2015, Premier Helen Zille will be holding discussions with farmers, farm workers and various other stakeholders in the Wellington area.

The meeting, which will be attended by around 300 people, arises out of a newspaper report making various allegations related to the outlawed dop system and  Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS).

Even though a large part of the report was plagiarised and we have been unable to trace the child and mother referred to in the  report, we regard the issues raised as so serious that they require in-depth discussion, which will focus on action taken to address the scourge of substance abuse in rural areas.

There will be an opportunity for open discussion and for relevant role players and organisations to say what they doing about the scourge of FAS.

All media are welcome to attend. Please kindly RSVP to Michael Mpofu, this is necessary for seating arrangements.
