Premier Zille to deliver 2014 State of the Province Address
This Friday, 21 February, Premier Helen Zille will deliver the 2014 State of the Province Address at the official opening of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.
All members of the media wishing to attend must please note the important information below from the Provincial Parliament regarding media accreditation. Please send your details only to the contact details given below as the Provincial Parliament is handling all arrangements for media accreditation, not the Premier’s Office.
Kindly note that these information requirements also apply to photographers and camera operators.

You are kindly reminded that if you wish to cover the official opening of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament on 21 February, you need to contact Matthys Odendal (021 487 1714 or 0825751735 or modendal@wcpp.gov.za) before 12h00 on Thursday, 20 February, for accreditation. Please provide the following: Personal information (title, first name, surname and company) and contact information (telephone number, cellphone number and email address).
The Premier will deliver her State of the Province Address during the sitting at 11h30.
Members of the media who have received accreditation must report to the media registration desk at the reception (entrance 15 Wale Street off the new concourse from Wale Street) between 09h00 and 11h30 on Friday, at which point they will be issued with a media tag and assisted to gain entry to the building. All media representatives must bring an ID book or driver’s licence in order to gain entry to the building.
A number of three-pin male audio connections will be available in the Press Gallery and a further two will be available at the entrance to the Chamber for television cameras. Three-pin female connections will therefore be required to connect recording devices to the audio feed. Please ensure that you have the necessary leads.
Photographers will be allowed to shoot from the Press Gallery and at the entrance to the Chamber behind the blue rope. An official will be available to assist photographers in this area. No flash photography at all, from any location.
Photographers whose equipment has been cleared by security, may also shoot the arrival of the Premier (10h50) in the concourse, 7 Wale Street entrance.
Refreshments for the media will be provided in the Tafelberg venue on the 7th Floor.
Programme of events:
- 10h50: Premier arrives at 7 Wale Street, Ground Floor Lobby – received by Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Secretary to Parliament
- 11h27: Speaker’s procession moves to Chamber (there will be an opportunity for photographers to shoot the procession in the 6th Floor Lobby leading to the Chamber)
- 11h30: State of the Province Address by the Premier
