Premier Helen Zille attends annual Iris House Ball, 22 Aug

Premier Helen Zille will attend the annual Iris House Ball, at the Table Bay Hotel

The Ball is a fundraiser hosted by the Iris House Children’s Hospice. It is the first special need’s children’s community and hospice-based respite care service in South Africa. The charity is committed to enriching the quality of life for special needs children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and providing support to their families.

Earlier this year, Premier Zille officially opened phase one of the Iris House hospice, in Stikland, which is currently under construction. Once completed, the new facility will further expand the charity’s services to families with special needs children. In 2012, the Western Cape Government provided funding to allow for the expansion of their services. To date the Department of Social Development has provided R1.7 million towards this initiative. Currently Iris House has 155 registered families who are provided with support and free respite care services.

All funds raised at the ball tomorrow night will go towards enabling the Hospice to continue to do its work and provide curcial services.

All media are welcome to attend. To confirm your attendance, please contact Sue van Der Linder from Iris House, on: sue@iris-house.org
