Premier Helen Zille and MEC Debbie Schäfer to handover Computer Lab to Grassdale High School, sponsored by MTN SA Foundation
Tomorrow, Wednesday 29th July 2015 Premier Helen Zille and MEC Debbie Schäfer will officially handover a computer lab to Grassdale High School, sponsored by MTN SA Foundation.
The lab refresh, one of many donated to us by MTN, forms part of the Western Cape Government’s strategy for e-learning.
The aim of e-learning is to provide learners with access to a technology platform that gives them with the opportunity to improve their educational results and to integrate into the 21st Century world of work. This project comprises of the following:
- The linking of schools through a high-speed, real-time Wide Area Network (WAN).
- The provision of Local Area Networks (LANs) in schools.
- The refresh of existing computer laboratories and the provision of new laboratories and technology rich classrooms (smart classrooms).
- The development and expansion of online digital resources that are made available to all learners, parents and teachers.
- Teacher training and development in ICT and the use of E-learning in schools.
Tomorrow, the Premier and MEC will unveil a commemorative plague and thank MTN for their contribution to education. The Premier will give the keynote address.
