Premier Hele Zille opens Policing Needs and Priorities Workshop, 14 Aug

Tomorrow, 14 August 2015, Premier Helen Zille will attend the Khayelitsha Policing Needs and Priorities (PNP) consultation workshop at Lookout Hill.

PNP meetings, facilitated by the Department of Community Safety – are held annually to consult communities on a “bottom-up” mandate for their unique policing and safety needs.

The workshop will result in a practical and implementable safety plan. In the case of this community, the plan will align with the Khayelitsha Commission of Inquiry’s 20 recommendations.

They are open to the whole community and also attended by various stakeholders including the SAPS, Municipalities, Community Police Forums (CPFs), Community Safety Forums (CSF), non-governmental organisations, community based organisations, faith based organisations, Neighbourhood Watches (NHW), and other local safety stakeholders.

This particular workshop is critical as it will also provide an opportunity to assess community perceptions of safety since the Commission of Inquiry finalised its report, one year ago this month.

Tomorrow, Premier Zille will deliver an opening address on day 1 of the workshop.

All media are welcome to attend.
