Gauteng Exco’s Ntirhisano roadshow visits Sedibeng
Gauteng Premier David Makhura and Members of his Executive Council, together with the Executive Mayors of Sedibeng municipalities, will visit Sedibeng district on 28 and 29 October 2015. The visit is part of the Ntirhisano Service Delivery Community Outreach programme, aimed at resolving service delivery challenges together with the affected communities.
The visit will kick off on Wednesday, 28 October 2015, with visits to service delivery sites and a public meeting in Vanderbijlpark. The visit to the district will culminate in the handing over of the Boipatong Memorial Precinct to the community and a public meeting with the residents of Sharpeville on Thursday.
The Boipatong Memorial Precinct was erected in honour of the victims of the Boipatong massacre that happened at the height of political violence in 1992. Forty five people were killed and scores were injured during the massacre.
Community concerns to be addressed during engagements with residents include skills development, youth unemployment, township economy revitalisation as well as the illegal occupation of RDP houses.
