Limpopo government seeks divine intervention in the fight against GBV and femicide
The Premier of Limpopo, Mr. Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, will this Thursday, 25 August 2022, lead stakeholders from government, churches, and civic organisations in a prayer to end rising cases of gender-based violence and femicide in the province.
The prayer day is part of government’s multisectoral call to action as the country reflects on challenges and take stock of achievements towards emancipation of women. The 2022 Women’s Month activities are held under theme: “Women’s Socio-Economic Right and Empowerment: Building Back Better for Women’s Resilience”.
South African continues to witness the rage of killings of women and girls, Limpopo is not an exception. During the outbreak of COVID-19 more women endured these barbaric acts of violence. The prolonged period of COVID-19 also exacerbated the situation. The prayer is aimed at seeking divine intervention from the Almighty to help Limpopo in eliminating the scourge of GBV and Femicide.
