The Western Cape Government’s Integrated Energy and Water Council was established in 2024 to address the urgent challenges of ensuring the province's energy and water resilience.
“These two priority areas are critically important to our ambitions of dramatically growing the Western Cape economy to keep driving job creation,” said Premier Alan Winde
The Energy Council was set up at the height of South Africa’s power crisis and its scope has been broadened to achieve the objectives outlined in the Growth For Jobs strategy (G4J), Western Cape Energy Resilience, and 15-year Western Cape Water Resilience programmes.
The Premier, his Special Adviser on Energy, Alwie Lester, and the Head of Department: Local Government, Graeme Paulse will give an overview of the progress made so far in implementing these programmes.
