Today, Premier Alan Winde, together with Alderman JP Smith, will visit the central fire station on Roeland Street to meet with the Head of Operations, Mrs Arlene Wehr, who has helped to coordinate and lead the response to the Table Mountain Fire.
The Premier will use the opportunity to thank those who served on the frontline and provide an update on the containment of the fires. In particular, Premier Winde recognises Mrs Arlene Wehr, who was one of four incident responders, serving on one of the most difficult days of the fire. She is the first woman of colour to be appointed in this operational role.
