Premier Alan Winde commemorates Deaf Awareness Month, 7 Sep

Premier Winde and cabinet members to partake in DeafSA Western Cape annual Silent Walk.

Tomorrow, Premier Alan Winde, together with members of his cabinet, including Minister of Community Safety, Albert Fritz, Minister of Social Development, Sharna Fernandez, and the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sports, Anroux Marais, will commemorate Deaf Awareness Month by joining DeafSA Western Cape for their annual ‘Silent Walk’. Here, attendees will walk wearing earplugs for an hour to foster awareness and understanding.

The event is supported by WesternCape on Wellness (WoW!), a healthy lifestyle initiative of the Western Cape Department of Health. The Western Cape Government supports initiatives and organisations that encourage inclusivity, and which heighten awareness of deafness, disability and of other marginalised groups.

Date: Saturday, 7 September 2019
Time: Registration will take place between 9 -10am. The walk will take place between 10:15 and 11:15am and the prize giving for wines will take place between 11:30 -12:00pm.
Venue: Bastion of the Deaf, Corner of Thickett & Hemlock Roads, Newlands

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
