On Tuesday, 20 February 2024, Premier Alan Winde and Western Cape MEC of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen, will hand over drones to District Mayors from several regions in the province.
At the centre of the Western Cape Safety Plan is leveraging data and technology to bolster the province’s crime-fighting efforts.
To further demonstrate the Western Cape Government’s embrace of technology, the drones will be deployed to give law enforcement officials additional “eyes in the sky” to help fight crime.
