It is a norm that during festive season there is an increase in the movement of people within the country due to tourism, holidays, and increase of activities at places of entertainment, shopping centres and migrant workers returning to their homes. This is also a period when Ports of Entry are busy because of the movement of persons in and out of the Republic of South Africa.
Major Sporting, Social, Cultural, Religious and Political events are normally planned during the festive season period. These events must be hosted in a safe and secure environment as required by law. The Safer Festive Season operations will see the police conducting operations countrywide, focusing on visible policing at shopping centres and operations and patrols at all of South Africa’s border posts and tourist destinations.
The provincial Safer Festive Season operations aimed at creating a safe and secure South Africa before, during and after the festive season, will be officially launched by the North West Premier, Prof Job Mokgoro.
