Over 600 Soweto schoolgirls call for the release of their fellow learners in Nigeria

Over 600 schoolgirls from Soweto’s Moletsane High School will today take part in the annual Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day by adding their voices to international calls for the safe release of their Nigerian peers who were abducted over a month ago by Boko Haram.

Prior to Moletsane students sending their message of support they will be addressed by Minister for Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Lulu Xingwana.

The day will also be used to expose the learners to the many career opportunities that are available to them and the importance of education as a powerful instrument of emancipation in the fight against gender-based violence and the attainment of women empowerment and gender equality.
