O re bone, re go bone – Legislature Takes Parliament to the people of Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality

The North West Provincial Legislature will be holding the “O re bone, re go bone” outreach program which is part of Taking the Legislature to the people. The campaign will be held at Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality Chamber on 6 June 2013 at 10h00.

The “O re bone, re go bone” is programme that was pronounced by the Speaker, Hon Supra Mahumapelo, during his 2012/13 Budget Speech which was also stressed in the 2013/14 budget speech. The programme is aimed at making the Legislature more visible and reachable to the communities; and also to make sure that voices of the people of the province are incorporated in the Legislature Oversight work.

The focus of the programme will be to meet with the petitioners of Swartkop, Suping, Lekgopong and other areas. The Committee on Petitions through the leadership of Hon Dodo Baloyi will meet and engage with petitioners regarding their dissatisfaction in relation to their employment in Swartkop mine.

Other stakeholoders for the meeting will include Swartkop mine investors, the department of Rural Development and Land Reform, Ramotshere Moiloa Municipality political heads and Officials and members of the community of the Ramotshere Moiloa. The committee will also welcome issues as raised by the community regarding service delivery.

A petition is a request, submission or complaint lodged by an individual or a member of the public to an institution about an issue that a petitioner would like government to intervene on or attend to.
