National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) Executive Chairperson Yershen Pillay will today address the 2013 One Young World Summit opening ceremony taking place at Soccer City. The summit which brings together youth leaders from around the world will be hosted for the first time in South Africa from 2 to 5 October 2013.
During the opening, Pillay will welcome to South Africa the more than 1 000 exceptional youth from around the world who will be gathered in the country for the Summit to discuss solutions to the challenges of education, global business, health, human rights, global youth unemployment and sustainable development among others, placing great emphasis on action so as to actively work to set up initiatives that aim to improve their communities.
The NYDA has sponsored 10 young South Africans to attend and be part of this historical gathering. The following are the young people who have been supported by the NYDA: Calvin Makhubela, Happy Samuel Phaleng, Soyisile Marareni, Lesego Letswalo, Bongi Zinhle Radebe, Andile Dube, Khomotso Maimela, Khaya Ngubo, Lebogang Bogobane and Phathutshedzo Nenungwi.

The opening ceremony will also include speeches by world leaders such as Kofi Annan, Mohammed Yunus and Sir Bob Geldorf.
