A Green Transport Strategy public consultation process will unfold in Kimberley to afford locals an opportunity to make inputs on the strategy that aims to shape transport policy and its effects on the environment.
The National Department of Transport is in the process of finalising the Green Transport Strategy (GTS) and the Northern Cape will form part of the processes to be hosted in Kimberley on 6 February 2018 at Protea Hotel at 10h00.
The strategy aims to emphasize green transportation policy statements, whilst minimising the adverse impact of transport on the environment and addressing current and future transport demands based on sustainable development principles.
The draft GTS was presented to the Cabinet on the 25 July 2017, whereby approval to publish the strategy for public comments and consultations was granted. As a result, the Department will be conducting provincial public consultations on the draft GTS.
The public is welcome to attend the session and make inputs to influence the strategy.
