North West Premier Thandi Modise to handover sites for school renovation projects

North West Premier Thandi Modise is to handover sites for renovation projects at Chris Hani Secondary and Zimele Geqe Primary to commence. The brief programme for the official handover to be held at the respective schools in Jouberton near Klerksdorp as from10h00 tomorrow.

The school renovation projects are part of the turn-around strategies that were introduced at the schools following Premier Modise and MEC for Education Louisa Mabe’s unannounced visits to the two schools during the monitoring of reopening of schools.

Premier Modise and MEC Mabe found 45 learners and three educators at assembly when they visited Chris Hani Secondary School. There was a prevalence of drug and alcohol abuse among some learners at the school.

The school buildings needed urgent renovation as they were dilapidated and posed a threat to the health and safety of learners and educators. Members of the media are invited to the site handovers the first of which is scheduled to commence at Chris Hani Secondary School.
