North West Legislature local government and Northern Cape Cooperative Governance committees to meet over redetermination of provincial boudaries in Batlhaping Ba Ga Mothibi
North West Provincial Legislature, Wednesday, 31 October 2018 – The Portfolio Committee on Local Government and Human Settlements will hold a joint oversight meeting with the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs and Standing Committee on Constitutional Affairs to discuss the redetermination of provincial boundaries in Batlhaping baga Mothibi tribal authority and share information collected on baseline studies of service delivery within villages under Batlhaping Ba ga Mothibi. The meeting will be held as follows:

The Committees will also discuss the consultation processes with regards to the submission of Batlhaping Baga Mothibi regarding Constitutional Amendments in terms of Section 74(5)(b) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
They will also jointly meet stakeholders in area which includes the Tribal Council; Mayor and Speaker of Phokwane Local Municipality; representatives of the Demarcation Board and other key stakeholders. A public meeting will be held with communities after the meeting at the tribal office in Sekhing village, Greater Taung Local Municipality at 14h00.
