North West Legislature Committee on Education to meet department over fire incidents at Volks High School and North West School for Deaf
On, Wednesday, 21 October 2015, the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Education and Sports Development, Arts, Culture and Traditional will hold a meeting with the Department of Education and Sports Development over fire incidents at Volks High School on 31 August 2015 and North West School for the Deaf in Leeudooringstad near Wolmaranstad at 14h00 in Legislature Conference Room.
The Committee requested the department to present comprehensive reports on the fire incidents at Volks High School in Potchefstroom which damaged the boys’ hostel on 31 August 2015 and at North West School for the Deaf on 24 August 2015, where a fire gutted down the school hostel leaving three (3) learners dead and 53 others being hospitalised after suffering minor injuries.
