North West Legislature Health Committee to meet departments over crisis in provincial hospitals
On Thursday, 20 August 2015, the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Health and Social Development will hold an oversight meeting with the MEC for the Department of Health, Dr. Magome Masike and MEC for the Department of Social Development, Fenny Gaolaolwe and senior managements of the departments over crisis in the provincial hospitals in Speaker’s Committee Room in Matlosana Local Municipality at 08h00.
The Committee went on oversight visits to Lehurutshe Hospital; Mafikeng Provincial Hospital; Thusong District Hospital and Mathibestad Health Centre. Some of the challenges found at the hospitals were water boilers that are not working; no proper record management systems for patient files; shortage of professional nurses; inactive supply chain management processes which affects daily maintenance work; medication not delivered to clinics on time and lack of effective Emergency Medical Rescue Services equipment.
Chief Executive Officers and board members of the hospitals will also be present at the meeting to account on some of these challenges.
