North West Provincial Legislature to conduct public hearings on Division of Revenue Amendment Bill 2019 and North West Adjustment Appropriation Bill, 2019
On Wednesday, 20 November 2019, the North West Provincial Legislature's Portfolio Committee on Premier, Finance, Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs will hold public hearings on Division of Revenue 2019 and North West Adjustment Appropriation Bill, 2019 at Ga Letsapa Community Hall in Kraaipan near Mahikeng; Chris Hani Community Hall in Tswelelang near Wolmaranstad; Boipelo Community Hall in Reivilo and Moretele Community Hall in Mathibestad at 10h00.
The Division of Revenue Amendment Bill 2019 aims to amend the Division of Revenue Act, 2019, in accordance with the Money Bills and Related Matters Act, 2019; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
The North West Adjustment Appropriation Bill, 2019 aims to effect adjustments to the appropriation of money from the Provincial Revenue Fund for the requirements of the province in respect of the 2019/20 financial year; and to provide matters incidental thereto.
Part of the Legislature's mandate is to promote public participation & oversight, therefore the Bill intends to hear the voice of the community with regards to how funds should be allocated in the departments. This will be in the spirit of open democracy, transparency & accountability. The money appropriated by the Legislature to the government departments should be spent in terms of the Public Finance Management Act No 1 0f 1999.
