North West Legislature hosts Older Persons Conference and Parliament in Mogwase, 5 Oct

North West Legislature in Partnership with Social Development Department and Office on the Rights of Older Persons to Host Older Persons Conference and Parliament  2017 in Mogwase  

The North West Provincial Legislature in partnership with the Department of Social Development and Office on the Rights of Older Persons will be hosting the Older Persons Sectoral Parliament on the 06 October 2017 under the theme: “Celebrating the Constitutional Rights of Older Persons in Moving South Africa Forward” at J.M Ntsime Secondary School Hall in Mogwase at 10h00.

On 05 October 2017, the Provincial Older Persons’ Annual General Meeting will be held at Sundown Range Hotel near Ledig in Moses Kotane Local Municipality.

Discussions  will focus on, amongst others, quality of services and financial and economic empowerment provided to Older Persons by government.

Both the Sectoral Parliament and the conference will highlight the plight of older persons and establish legitimate platform for empowerment; promotion and maintenance of their status; rights; well-being; safety and security and further provide channels for discussions and implementation of resolutions emanating from the sector Parliament.

Presentations will also focus on moral regeneration; primary healthcare and social security amongst older persons.

Amongst the delegates expected to attend is the Social Development department MEC Hoffman Galeng, Members of the Provincial Legislature, 160 representatives from municipal forums; house of traditional leaders; Chapter 9 institutions; inter-faith organisations; Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal Directorate from Office of the Premier, South African Social Securities Association and different departments.
